Well, here we are. A couple weeks into 2017. How are those resolutions going so far? Have you already fallen off the wagon? If so, you are not alone. Nearly 80% of resolutions fail every year!
This year, try looking at your resolutions from a different angle. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, stick to an exercise routine or snag that promotion, try to dig deeper and find the core issues instead of just changing your behavior.
For change to last, you need to connect with your heart; dig in deep and get to the root of the problem. Why do you do the things you do? Why is it so difficult to change your behavior?
Once you take a long, hard look at yourself (it’s hard, I know) and have the answers to these questions, I believe you will feel a sense of freedom. You will no longer be held down by the guilt of yet another failed resolution, but perhaps you will be lifted up and willing to take the correct steps in order to produce a real change.
And you know, God doesn’t care what size of pants you wear or how big your paycheck is. Proverbs 16:9 says “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Speak to God – give Him your heart. Let Him help you achieve your goals to make 2017 your best year ever.
Oh, and stop being so hard on yourself. Nobody has time for that!
